I attended the CompTIA annual member meeting last week in Chicago, and – other than the obscene $54 parking rate at the hotel – found it to be a great time. CompTIA is the Computing Technology Industry Association, essentially a clubhouse for IT service providers, VARs, resellers, MSPs and OEM reps.
The annual meeting is designed to bring the hive mind together to discuss, and create actionable plans to address, the issues facing the industry today. We were happy to participate in the Cloud/SaaS Community, as our Clearview SaaS telecom expense management software is a tool we offer to MSPs, as they seek out new revenue sources. The Health Care IT Community is also interesting, as the explosion of wireless devices in health care drives the need for increased scrutiny and control over telecom costs in hospitals and clinics. I enjoyed the camraderie and sense of humor the group seems to have, and we look forward to attending their Breakaway event in Washington DC in August. If you’re a CompTIA member too, we hope to see you there!
